What is heatstroke

 It is generally a situation caused to your body by overheating. It usually happens when you are exposed to or doing physical exercise in high temperatures. As it is the most critical form of heat injury. During this condition, your body temperature level rises to 104 F or 40 C or goes above. This condition is commonly seen in the summer months.


 if someone obtained heatstroke symptoms then he should require immediate treatment. if the heatstroke is not treated on a time. Then it may result in damage to your brain, heart, muscles, and kidney. Sometimes the condition becomes even worse that it would result in complications or death. If someone is affected by the heatstroke then these are signs and symptoms which commonly have seen.

  •  The body temperature rises to level 104 F or 40 C or higher while measuring through a rectal thermometer.

  • The patient sometimes feels confused, agitated, slurred speech, irritability, coma, and seizures.

  •  If the heatstroke happens due to hot weather your skin may perceive hot and dry on touch and if the stroke happens due to strenuous exercise then you may perceive it as hot and slightly moist.

  •  Sometimes the patient may vomit or find sickness in the stomach.

  •  Along with the increase in body temperature, the skin will turn red.

  • The breathing becomes fast and shallow.

  •   The heat stress puts a burden on your heart to help your body cool due to which your pulse may significantly escalate.

  •   The patient may experience issues like headaches.


Let's go ahead and get to know why this heat stroke happens:-


  1.  if you have been exposed to hot temperature or humid weather for a prolonged duration. it may cause heat stroke and generally happens in hot and humid weather which leads to a rise in the core body temperature.  It is usually found In older people or people having chronic illnesses.

  2.  The other type of heatstroke happens due to physical training in hot weather. The people who used to exercise in the hot weather then they are most likely to get heatstroke.

  some other conditions where an individual more likely to get are:-

  •  Wearing excess clothes can bring the issue as it prevents sweat from evaporation and cools your body.

  • Drinking alcohol could be another reason as it affects your body's ability to maintain the temperature.

  •  Not becoming hydrated at regular intervals, if you are not drinking water to refresh the body fluids which are lost through sweating.

 It is advisable to seek medical attention as soon as possible for heat stroke treatment. But what can be done from your side to alleviate the discrepancy.


The heatstroke situation is predictable and avoidable. Try these alternatives to lessen the issue:-


  •  Remove your excessive clothing immediately and let your body to cool properly.

  • Get inside your house or go under the shades. 

  • Protect your body against sunburn. For this, you can apply sunscreen generously and reapply after every 2 hours or more often the time when you swim or sweat.

  • Stay hydrated at regular intervals and drink plenty of water as it helps in sweating and normalize your body temperature.

  •  If it would have become a necessary physical exercise in hot weather then take cool beverages. Also, you can select chill times of the day like evening or early morning.

  •   If you are already on medication or more likely to get heart-related issues then try to avoid the heat. Take action quickly if you find overheating symptoms. If you participated in any kind of sports activity then be sure the medical service should be there.
